Ahmet Ertegun, R.I.P.
One of the great men of contemporary American music has passed away.
He was a critical force in the discovery and development of Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and many others R&B titans and promoted British rock royalty such as the Stones, Zeppelin and more.
He was also a graduate of my alma mater, St. John's College -- an institution which he continued to support over the years.
