Covering M'assa
Nope, most important of all, Massa's resignation finally takes attention away from the problems of Gov. David Paterson, now-former House Ways & Means Chairman Charlie Rangel and Rep. Gregory Meeks. "It was a real mensch move on the part of that ole white Massa to take away some attention from all the New York black politicians who've gotten into so much trouble over the last month," said fellow Caucasian Democratic New Yorker Rep. Jerry Nadler.

Call Me "Sen. Burris"!
No word on whether Burris will be forced to give up his seat in the chamber if Robert Byrd comes in asks for it. Also, in compensation for how poorly they've treated their newest member, Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid suggests senators give Burris separate bathroom and water fountain!

Chocolate Prophecy
Last week's segment seems strangely clairvoyant in light of today's Blagojevich indictment:
Like Grier said, Obama is at the top of his popularity right now -- or was last week. This week, he will inevitably face "What did he know and when did he know it?" questions related to the Blago scandal. Worse, much of the national press corps is already in Chicago covering transition stuff. It's so easy for them all now to switch over right away into Scandal Mode. Even though Blagojevich is the indicted one, it's much easier for lazy journalists to use the phrase "Obama seat" to describe the scandal.
Oh well, the Era of Good Feeling was great while it lasted.

Al Qaida Nader
Al Sharpton denounced his fellow "Al": "Americans must be united with our President to stamp out terrorism and racism of any stripe."
Not for attribution, an Obama spokesman claims that the president-elect's response is: "You can call me WHITE HOUSE negro, M.F.-er -- while I can call you dead!"

NBC Bails on the Bailout Skit
UPDATE: NBC restores the video, albeit slightly edited. Go to this blog to find the original and compare and contrast (right around the 5:05 mark). Basically, the "People who should be shot" chyron has been removed, as well as "Mr. Sandler" thanking Barney Frank "and many Republicans as well for helping block congressional oversight of our corrupt activities."

SNL "Bails" On The Democrats --UPDATED!!
*************************************************************************************************
While Saturday Night Live did offer up another great Tina Fey-as-Sarah Palin skit this week (with Jason Sudekis doing a rather hilarious Joe Biden), it also included a lengthy, complex, skit on the bailout and the subprime policies that precipitated the crisis. It was not exactly flattering to congressional Democrats:
Whoever wrote this skit knows their stuff, because there are details in it that would go over the head of all but the most intense political junkie.
UPDATE: The scrubbing of this video has been pretty complete. In addition to it vanishing from NBC and Hulu, all versions of it posted to YouTube return the following message: "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by NBC Universal." Interestingly, many other SNL skits from this season -- particularly the Palin/Fey ones -- are still up there on YouTube. Now, there may be legitimate legal issues involved. Two characters lampooned happen to be real-life couple Herbert and Marion Sandlers who made billions off of subprime mortgages they sold to Wachvia. A caption on the skit reads, "People who should be shot." Ooops
Anyway, Michelle Malkin takes that and adds the Soros factor to assess what may have happened.
UPDATE II: Shh...don't tell anyone, but right click on this link and "Save As" to your computer.

The FBI's Powder Keg
Under pressure to make public its case against a U.S. Army scientist in the 2001 anthrax murders, the FBI is preparing to release its evidence on the researcher, who killed himself before he could be charged, law enforcement officials said on Tuesday.Wow. Think about that: "The FBI is preparing to release its evidence on the researcher!!!!" "The evidence... includes antrax spores."
The evidence could be released as early as Wednesday and includes anthrax spores found in the office of Bruce Ivins that were linked through DNA matching to the spores sent through the mail, the officials said.
Oh, wonderful. Think we know where this one's heading?
Anyone going to that press briefing Wednesday might want to make sure they've got their mouthguards on. Otherwise, things might get ugly.
[Everybody, run for your lives!!! The spores...the spores...the spores have been released!!!
[Confused Bureau officials didn't understand why releasing the evidence (anthrax) on a researcher who was already dead might be deemed excessive by the public...
[FBI Director Robert Mueller was said to be preparing an apology to the families of the unintended victims at the press briefing...]

Coverin' Up

Quite amusing is a response in this Wall St. Journal blog where a writer says that, because "there are too many ignorant people in this country to understand 'satire'," the cartoon can't count as satire. The writer adds "New Yorker=Fox News."
Oh, well, of course...

Pre-Debate Sh*ts & Giggles
This is a good synopsis of Saturday Night Live's return episode -- and includes a clip of the SNL send-up of last week's Clinton-Obama debate (including "Campbell Brown's" admission that media was "in the tank" for Obama) and Tina Fey's de facto endorsement of Hillary Clinton.
And here's Jimmy Kimmel's post-Oscar's rejoinder to girlfriend Sarah Silverman's video of the fun she likes to have with Matt Damon.
Yeah, both YouTube clips contain easily-identifiable bleeped language.

Nigeria Is So Yesterday...
"Dear Heart,
My name Inika Djibouti Obama. This letter may come to you as a surprise, since we do not know each other. I am the second cousin of Barack Obama Sr. and the former treasurer of Kenya. The recent electoral disturbance in my country has forced me out of my possession and necessitated that I flee my homeland.
I have in my possession 100 million USD that I do not wish to fall into the hands of the opposition leader. As you might understand, I cannot give these funds to my kinsman, because of some strange law called McCain-Feingold.
Your name was given to me as someone whom I can trust. I am hopeful that you can take these funds into your posssession, for an appropriate percentage as thanks for your kind and brave service.
Please send me your contact information...
Yours in holiness,
Inika Djibouti Obama"
